Delete your Househound account
Last updated August 8, 2026
Use this page to request deletion of your Househound account and the data associated with it. Househound is published by Househound. Fill in the form below and we’ll take it from there — no sign-in, and no need to reinstall the app.
Request deletion
Prefer email? Write to hello@househoundusa.com from the address on your account with the subject Delete my account. Either route reaches the same place. You can also ask us to delete part of your data — a single inspection, or a set of photos — without closing your account; just say so in the form.
Or delete it yourself, immediately
If you can still sign in, you don’t need to wait for us. Deletion is immediate and you control it:
In the Househound mobile app
- Open Settings.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Enter your password and type DELETE to confirm.
On the web
- Sign in at househoundusa.com/dashboard.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Choose Permanently delete account.
- Enter your password and type DELETE to confirm.
If you have a paid plan, cancel it first
Deletion is deliberately blocked while a subscription can still be charged, so that a card is never billed for an account nobody can open. Cancel from Settings → Billing & plan in the web dashboard, then delete. If you can’t reach that screen, say so in the form above and we’ll cancel the plan and complete the deletion for you.
If you are the only owner of an inspection business on Househound that still has reports in it, you’ll be asked to either hand ownership to another member or delete the business itself. Deleting the business is what removes its inspection records — see below.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, we immediately and permanently:
- delete your password;
- remove your email address from the account — it is replaced with a non-routable placeholder so nothing can ever be sent to it again, and so the address is free for you to use if you ever come back;
- end every signed-in session on every device, so access stops at once;
- destroy any outstanding password-reset and email-verification links;
- suspend your membership of every inspection business, removing you from rosters, assignment pickers, and team lists;
- release any paid seat you were holding.
Deleting your organization (Settings → Delete business, owners only) additionally removes that business’s inspection records: reports, photos, video, client and agent contact details, appointments, agreements, and email history.
What is kept, and for how long
Househound is used by inspection businesses, and some records belong to the business rather than to you personally. Deleting your account does not delete the business’s records. Specifically, we keep:
- Inspections and reports owned by an inspection business you worked for, including their photos, video, findings, and the client and agent contact details entered on them. These are that business’s professional records — inspection work carries a long liability tail — and they are retained for as long as the business keeps its account. If you are the business owner, delete the business to remove them.
- A record of who edited what. Report history and the activity feed keep your name against the edits you made, so a business can tell who wrote a given finding on a report it may have to stand behind years later.
- Invoices, payments, and refunds, which we and the inspection business are required to keep as financial records. These are retained for as long as tax and accounting law requires — generally up to 7 years — and are not deleted on request.
- Suppression records — if an email address previously bounced or unsubscribed, we keep that fact so we don’t mail it again.
- Security and abuse-prevention logs, kept briefly and then discarded.
Residual copies can persist in encrypted backups after deletion. Those roll off on our hosting provider’s backup schedule within 30 days and are not used for any other purpose in the meantime.
Questions
Email hello@househoundusa.com and a person will answer. If you received an inspection report from a Househound customer and want your details removed from it, the fastest route is to contact that inspection business directly, since the report is their record — but you can write to us and we’ll pass it along.
Our Privacy Policy describes everything we collect and why.
